Abstract: This work endeavors to describe the phonological system, word classes, case marking and agreement systems, phrases, simple causes, types of predicate and complex sentences of Timbira Apãniekrá, language of northern branch of the Jê family. This language is spoken by approximately 450 people living at Área Indígena Porquinhos in the state of Maranhão, Brazil. This dissertation explore too the hypothesis that the nominalization construction is one possible source for ergativity in this language
