Title: Un deserto per la nazione argentina
Authors: Fiorani, Flavio
Issue Date: 2007
Publisher: Padova, Studio Editoriale Gordini
Abstract: In this article the author presents several reflections by essayists and writers on the territories of the pampa between the 19th and the 20th century. A space where the struggle between civilization and barbarism was played out, for a long time called a desierto, the pampa has been considered the origin of the Argentinian nation and of civilized society. A geography of the homeland, the landscape of the pampa has also been the universe of signs that originated a literature which was intended to represent the modern identity of Argentina.
