|Abstract:||Today's meeting is dedicated to a discussion of the pragmatic dimension of the aphorism in Europe, namely, the conditions surrounding its production, reception and diffusion. The choice of this topic is dictated by the considerable interest that the aphorism has generated over the last few years and by the possibility that a pragmatic analysis of the aphorism might reveal aspects that are common to the different European cultures here investigated.|
