Abstract: The work presents a critical essay and a translation of Lokaksema's "Daoxing Jing" (T224), "Sūtra on the Practice of the Way". The text is the first chinese version of a very important indian sūtra, Aṣṭasāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā the oldest prajñāpāramitā text from which all the others more extended sutras have developed. Lokaksema's version is very important to study the practice and career of Bodhisattva, the new model of spiritual achievement in early chinese mahāyāna.
