|Title:||Il Diario di viaggio in Persia di Pietro della Valle: un confronto con le "Lettere"|
|Publisher:||Padova, Editoriale Programma|
|Abstract:||Pietro della Valle (Rome, 1586-1652) is the author of one of the best accounts of Safavid Persia. During his travels he sent to his friend Mario Schipano thirty-six letters, which were published between 1650 and 1663. The Letters were written by della Valle on the basis of a diary which until quite recently has not been held into due consideration. On the contrary, the collation between the two sources shows that the diary can be profitably used to fully understand and complete much of the information contained in the letters|
