Title: La letteratura taiwanese: un tentativo di definizione oltre il regionalismo
Authors: Passi, Federica
Issue Date: 2000
Publisher: Padova, Editoriale Programma
Abstract: Since the Eighties literature from Taiwan has been the subject of a number of studies both in the Mainland and in Taiwan. The way it has been defined and classifid in China as a "regional literature", a small tributary to the large river of Chinese literature, has met with the opposition of many native critics and writers. The work of excavation taken up by many taiwanese to recover their own cultural and literary tradition, has in fact shown that the history of the island and the century of separation from the mainland can authorise to view literature from Taiwan from a perspective which is far beyond regionalism. Taiwanese literature, even though obviusly related and connected to China by national and cultural links, is actually asking for a more accurate definition
