|Publisher:||Padova, Editoriale Programma|
|Abstract:||This paper aims to a critical examination of a crucial passage in the "Bhagavadgītā", namely 2,54-72, where the figure of the "[man of] steadfast wisdom" (sthitaprajña) is described, from the point of view of a contemporary Indian follower of gandhian social and ethical thought, namely Vinobā (Vināyak) Bhāve (1895-1982). The author of the paper tries to demonstrate that Vinobā interprets the "Bhagavadgītā" according to the traditional (smārta) hermeneutics, with particular reference to the commentary on the "Bhagavadgītā" ascribed to Śaṅkara. The paper contains also a bibliography of the principal works by Vinobā, written in a vast array of Indian contemporary languages (Indo-aryan as well as Dravidic ones), as well as of some importante translations (mainly into English) and studies (in Indian languages as well as in English) thereon|
