|Title:||Nuovi documenti sui Zuhrāwī/Zuhra Zāda di Aleppo (1699-1710)|
|Publisher:||Padova, Editoriale Programma|
|Abstract:||The Zuhrāwī of Aleppo were among the leading Ashrāf in the history of Aleppo from the Ayyubid period well into the Ottoman 17th century. They held the niqāba al ashrāf and several official positions, were engaged in economic activities and adhered to shiism. In the course of the 18th century they gradually disappeared from the public arena and died out. By presenting new inedited documents from the quḍāt's archives (sijillāt) this article whishes to shed some light on the family's fast decline as these cases of indebtedness, selling of houses, family disputes over estates clearly show.|
