| Abstract: | The subject of Hymn n° 135, 10th maṇḍala of the Ṛgveda, is focused on a young man, a boy, kumāra, as protagonist of a descent to the Kingdom of the Death God. The kumāra, in the whole text, remains strictly anonymous. With a careful new translation, and through the instruments of a comparative reading of two other texts, the Taittirīyabrāhmana (III.11.8) and the Kaṭha-upaniṣad, the author suggests that the young man can be identified as Naciketas, son of Uddālaka Āruṇi. |
