Abstract: Professor Paṇḑit Vidyā Nivās Miśra is a distinguished scholar in the cultural panorama of contemporary India. Well renowned for his deep knowledge of Sanskrit language and ancient Indian literature, he is numbered among the writers too for his valuable essays composed in modern Hindī language. We have translated here 'Bhakti', one of his essays in which he suggests a new interpretation of 'bhakti', the path of self-surrender to the Divinity, in the light of the medieval devotional literature and ancient sapiential books.
