| Abstract: | This work analyses Ben-Ami's tale 'Baal-tefilo' by the application of the concept of 'border', a crucial dimension in Judaism, always linked to identity and its disintegration. The analysis of the tale, looking for religious, social and material borders, seeks to place it in a wider context, in order to grasp its high dramatic level. The first part thus sets Ben-Ami in his historical context and briefly analyses the perception of border in the Jewish system; the second part deals with the experience of border in Ben-Ami's biography; the last part finally suggests a possible interpretation of the tale starting from this specific concept. |
