Abstract: The changes thet the pronominal system of Brazilian Portuguese has been undergoing have reflections on its grammar. This paper show that this variety of Portuguese used to have null subjects, object clitics, and weak possessives for any type of antecedents/referents, but today its weak pronouns, including the null ones, are preferentially distribuited to antecedents/referents that are referentially deficient.
